Hi guys!
I posted an intro and now I'm posting this because I am here for a reason. I have some questions about how to get started in petplay, I hope I don't sound silly..
Should I buy ears and a tail and surprise my partner with this (we have talked about it, he's very into it, the only surprise would literally be that he's never seen me dressed as a kitty before) or is this some thing we should do together as a master/pet thing?
I am interested in butt plugs, will I need to build up to a butt plug tail?
How do I get into the heads pace to do it? It really interests me, the more that I look into it, the more turned on I am by the whole thing, but with ddlg stuff I mostly just imitated porn and winged it until I felt comfortable, but I can't really find any good porn with examples...
In my introductory post somebody suggested practicing being a kitty without the sexual stuff because I'm a little sexually reserved at times (working on it! That's why I'm here), so should I just be a kitty while my boyfriend is at work or should I do it around him but just not be sexual?
Thanks for any help, and please, if I'm posting wrong, please let me know and I'll try to change it! I might have more questions later :3

I wanted to first say, Welcome! Now these answers are my personal answers. As you have probably seen, Pet Play (much like all BDSM), is totally unique to your dynamic. Everyone's Pet Play is different, so these answers are solely on my experience, they are not the "right" answer, just an answer. Time for answers! I personally do not surprise my Caretaker/Switch with anything because we enjoy doing things together. If I buy a tail, I know he will look for my best interest. He keep me away from buying the tails that look beautiful but will not handle the type of play I do. So, personally, I would want him there for his input, as well as knowing the he will enjoy them just as much as my would make me feel confident in my decision. That being said, if the surprise aspect excited you, do it! Worst comes to worst, your next set you both go together to get! The butt-plug is a tricky one. I don't use butt-plug tails because I love my tail being pulled. But I do use butt-plugs and anal is just... *faints happily*. But it would depend on the size of tail. No matter the type of anal-play, you need to prepare yourself and I would highly suggest doing research as there are good tips and tricks that can avoid mishaps (lube is VITAL). With tail-plugs, the issue is if you plan to use them for a long period of time. You need to make sure it doesn't get dry as getting it out will be painful. But I digress. If you are getting a larger plug, yes, you will most likely need to work up to it with smaller ones. If you have a small plug, it will just be working with fingers and whatnot to prepare yourself. (This all assuming you've never handled buttplugs before. ^^) The head-space I can't help you with. I don't get into a head-space. I enjoy being fully aware, and I bend the reality between animal and human. I don't ever go fully animal, as I talk to my Caretaker/switch often while being a red panda. Not something usually seen in Pet Play. Both! I have acted like a Red Panda whenever the switch inside my goes off to not wanting to be a human at the moment, or simply a want to be a Red Panda. So being a pet by yourself if that satisfies you, do it! You can learn a bunch from finding out what you like to do by yourself and will encourage you to try things with you boyfriend. And there are very many pets that don't engage in sexual activity (as there are many littles.) If you wish it to be sexual one day, def start out as non-sexual and work up. But sexual activity isn't part of my Pet Play with my SO. But I am also a furry, so I freely switch between fuck-me-furry to feed-me-red-panda and it's a part of my dynamic. Never feel the need to make it sexual. I really, really hope that helped! If you need me to clarify anything, please just say so. And the best of luck on your journey.

So many good questions! 1.) I show my Alpha or at least tell him about it if I'm making my own. Mostly because I get excited about it. But he also reigns me in some to keep from buying all the tails. XD It may help to think of what kind of kitty (I'm assuming kitty, right, judging on your name) you might like to be. Or what kind of colors. Tail and ears range from simple, to realistic patterns, to crazy things like galaxy colors. My tail and ears were originally based on other custom pieces I already had before settling into a pastel theme. Sorry, I'm rambling here. I tend to do that a lot, hehe. You may want to talk to him about it, though, to see if he has any interests. Also, it builds up excitement about it. ^_^ 2.) I've done plugs but not tail plugs before. I tend to use belt tails since that's what I've been use to with the furry community. Though since my Daddy has been helping me train with anal, getting a plug is tempting. When I started, since I was interested in anal anyways, I got a training set. If you want to skip that, just be sure you get a small size and start out slow and easy. Pushing too hard or two fast can hurt yourself. 3.) My headspace kinda just comes when it wants to be honest. I do have a few phrases that instantly gets me there. When my Alpha or Daddy tells me I'm a good girl is a major one. Or if my Alpha offers to get one of my toys. I also have a tumblr filled with pupspace/littlespace stuff that makes it easier. I do find that being relaxed, not overly forcing it, and not stressing about anything helps out with it. So do what feels comfortable for you. 4.) I agree with Maus, all the time! Doing it on your own helps you get use to it. But doing it with the partner helps get him use to it too since sometimes Owners can struggle on what exactly they're suppose to do when being new to it. XD

Just hearing from you guys has already made it easier to relax and start to get into it. I started small and did some kitty snuggling on my future masters chest the other day, he was very happy. (:

XD Thanks for your perspective! (: talking about all this has really helped. I think I'm going to start with a tail belt, but also look into butt plugs separately and then see if it's something my master and I are interested in down the line. I think this is going to be a lot of fun, I can't wait to start shopping haha.
